the building complex of the town hall of bayreuth, built in various phases from 1748to 1965, housed as different functionalities as riding school and town hall is now becoming a convention centre. the monument listed building is located next to the castle garden and is part of the baroque city center. on the basis of this background the entension of the city hall to a convention center is seen as a chance to complete the ensemble and improve the quality of the surrounding space.

by extending the front building of the southern sidewing to a cube while continuing the sloped roof the possibility of creating a new square with an additional light weight building opens up. the geometry and dimension of the square becomes a netural part of the surrounding cityscape.

the extension on the southern front of the gallery includes an entry from the geißmarkt, above ground as well as from the underground garage. the new foyer on two levels also provides the connection of the convetion centre to the main hall.
