If communication today has gained prominence over information and - to borrow the phrase from McLuhan - the mediem itself is the message, i.e. the content, it is because most of the exchange between people on this planet no longer takes place through language. Electricity reversed the development of the alphabet. The alphabet was explosive by nature and thus lead to the fragmentation of language and to the atom bomb. Electricity, on the other hand, tends to implosion. It invites to join into communication with the media of the entire world and then, as the computer becomes the dominate inclusive technology, to engange in a global conciousness.
As an office for architecture and new media, established in central Berlin in May of 1994, we are concerned primarily with the solution of interdisciplinary problems. The particular emphasis of our architectural work lies in the cultural-public area. Theatres, exhibition architecture and audio visual media instalations are designed and supervised by our office from conception through design development to implementation.The solution of extensive and complex tasks is enabled by our collaboration with stage technicians, lighting designers, acousticians, structural engineers, and data processers.
Our office is also engaged in the development of interactive computer applications such as the conception and production of interactive CD ROM media and database-oriented application in intranets and the Internet.
